MSP, Magister en Salud Pública [Master in Public Health]
Facultad Nacional de Salud Pública, Universidad de Antioquia,
Medellín, Colombia.) Dr. Torres is a research Assistant
Professor at the Institute. She previously worked as a data
analyst for the South Carolina Alzheimer’s Registry and the
Hispanic Health and Nutrition Examination Survey at the
Prevention Center of the University of South Carolina’s School
of Public Health. She was also a chronic disease epidemiologist
for the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control. In
Colombia, South America, Dr. Torres was a professor of nursing
(undergraduate and graduate programs) mainly in the area of
community health, Universidad Javeriana. She was also a
professor of epidemiology in the Health Administration Program
of the same university and a co-founder of a school health
program for public schools in Bogotá. Dr. Torres worked as
health services coordinator at the Caja de Previsión Social de
la Superintendencia Bancaria in Bogotá. She is currently the
secretary of the board of directors of the South Carolina
Hispanic/Latino Health Coalition and member of the SC Chapter of
the SC/SW Colombia Partners of the Americas.
