(MPH, Health Promotion, Education, and Behavior, University of South Carolina; BA, Sociology, Clemson University) Carol Reed is a Research Associate in the Division of Medicaid Policy Research (MPR) with over 17 years of experience with Medicaid policies and programs. Most of Ms. Reed’s professional career has been in the area of health care policy and the effect that health care policy has on health outcomes, service delivery, and access to vulnerable populations. Currently at the Institute, she works in the areas of her professional interests which include health care policy analysis, systems of care, and quality improvement.
Prior to coming to the Institute, Ms. Reed was an instructor at Midlands Technical College and worked with Medicaid programs at the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC). In her role in the Maternal and Child Health Bureau, she focused on ways to improve access to primary care in the areas of women's and children’s health and systems of care. She also tracked how the integration of managed care in the state affected health service delivery for DHEC patients.
